Where'd Daddy Go Hu?

Father's day has come and gone. For this years Father's Day, the kids and I sent Henry away on a two night, 3 day trip to Devils Head for golfing and spending time with his other "Daddy friends". He deserves the break. He works so hard to take care of all of us. We missed him dearly, as absence makes the heart grow fonder, of course.

While Henry packed for his trip, preparation was needed for a small family gathering at our home. Though our space is small, I was planning for BIG fun. The hot weather demanded a blow up pool be ready for playing. I filled half of it with warm water, by repeatedly making trips to the bathroom tub, filling a bucket with warm water, and puring it into the pool. After filling the rest of the pool up with water from the outdoor spigot, the pool temp was perfect for playing in.

Soon after the pool was ready, Henry left us to enjoy his special Father's Day break. As soon as Henry was out of site, my daddy showed up to help me prep the rest of our home for the party. There was veg to cut up and fruits to wash. Then my dad and I created our very own fountain by securing our spray hose nozzle to the ground using the claw from a tiller we have.

Exhausted, Zoey fell into a deep sleep on the couch.

While she slept there, peacefully in the living room, more family arrived, and our celebration began.

Zoey missed it all... the horseplay with the boys in the water, and the Cherries, grapes, and watermelon.

For what seemed like hours, there was splashing and laughing and fun in the sun.

My lil' sis couldn't make it. But we took this picture in her honor. She used to make this "monster face" when she was little.

Ethan did NOT approve of being splashed.

And Liam, who is as sweet as lollipops and as caring as a little boy could be, left a message for his little cousin, as a surprise for when she finally woke up.

She eventually woke up but soon after her cousins and Aunt and Uncle went home.  It was a long day and ended with a call from Henry and a chat with my dad, who had "E" riding around on his shoulders.

That night, I slept soundly, with Ethan in my bed. He kept Henry's side warm.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Daddy's out there.
