The windows surrounding my office desk are finally allowed to be open. The air passes across my skin and I know that summer is here (though, it IS still spring). I love the changing seasons. Each one brings with it beautiful new sights. The white snow and ice glistens in winter. The plants and trees change colors and inspire awe in fall. Summer brings not only gorgeous, vibrant colors from the sky, grass, and plant life, it also brings family members together for pool parties and trips to the race track with Henry and the kids.
We've just enjoyed our first trip to the track this season. For all I know, It could be the only trip this season. Zoey loves the horses.
I worry sometimes about the horses in these races. I hate to think these beautiful creatures are abused in anyway. I've done a bunch of reading on the subject and have had a few personal conversations about this. I've decided that a good majority of these horses come from the most loving environments. They are horses who get love and kisses everyday. They get the best feed and care a horse could ask for. Their owners and their jockys' love them very much.
And I've seen first hand what happens if a horse doesn't want to run. So rest assured, if a horse doesn't want to run, it will let you know. I know there are horse owners out there that treat horses with some degree of disrespect too and that is sad. I suppose though, this is no different then the way human beings treat each other as well. Henry and I were very lucky to win our first two races. The money we won will go towards the golf trip Henry will be taking, as a father's day gift from the kids and I. Thank you beautiful horses.
And thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Rogers for helping kick off this Summer with a fabulous pool party! These wonderful hosts invite us to their home on a regular basis to spend time with them. It's always a happy place where we all play in the pool, relish a plethora of food and beverage, and enjoy each others company while the day flies by.
Pictures of Mr. Rogers are always a must.
Zoey and I were in and out of the pool all day, even though it was REALLY cold! We got used to it fast.
Zoey's swimsuit was a hand-me-down from my girlfriend Peggy. We thought we were going to have to buy her a new suit until Henry remembered we had one stored away somewhere. We've been very fortunate we have not needed to buy any clothes or shoes for Zoey since she was born. We have wonderful, giving friends and family members.
This was Ethan's first time visiting the Roger's home. He took to the hammock instantly. He's definitely his fathers child, as Henry loves these hammocks as well.
This is only the beginning of summer. I'm excited to enjoy the rest of it!
