Artistic Endeavors

If I had to sum myself up in one word, it would be, creative. My mind spends the entire day conjuring up ways to take nothing and turn it into something. These creative ideas are of an unlimited supply. There is not enough time in this lifetime to run with every idea I have. This creativity comes in many forms and mediums: painting, writing, photography, drawing, computer generated, musical...you name it.

I am passing this drive to be creative onto my children. When Zoey was one year and four months old I created a flour and food coloring mixture for her. She put her hands into my mixture, then ran her hands over some parchment paper (and many other surfaces...eek) to create this...

This is Zoey's first piece of art work, which now hangs in a frame on her bedroom wall. She helped me put the sticker on, but I wrote her name of course.

Since then we have done many creative projects together. We make new greeting cards out of old greeting cards that have been given to us..

And Zoey has found a use for my old art board from college.

She made multicolored eggs for Easter

She draws beautiful scenes on the windows. They are so simple and so complex at the same time. To others her drawings may just be a bunch of messy scribbles that will be a pain to clean up later. But to me...

They create a self portrait.

She also plays the Piano with Grandma (She will soon have a real piano of her own too!).

I hope, as she grows, she will continue to use her imagination and always find a way to be creative.
