Ticket to Ride

So, I have this secret love affair with spending as little money as possible. I'm constantly looking for clever and fun ways to spend less. And I'll NEVER pass up anything free. It's like, this fun little game I play with myself. So this week, I decided to start taking the train to work.

I'd say it costs about $200 a month in gas alone to get me to work each month. I can buy a one month  train pass for $63. I  don't even have to pay for parking because Henry and the kids can drop me off in the morning at the Bartlett station (about a 5 min drive)  and I can walk to work from the drop off station (about an 8 minute walk). As a test run, I bought a one way ticket.

There are only 2 stops between point A and point B for me. To my surprise, I've been using the same one way ticket for a couple days now. It turns out, on the way to work, I never even see a conductor because I'm just not on long enough. Then, on the way home, I stand in the doorway like I'm about to get off and the conductor walks right past me without even a thought as to whether or not my ticket has been stamped. It looks like I'll be spending EVEN LESS then I originally anticipated. This, my friends, really gets me excited. I'm amazed that I just found a way to spend nearly $200 less every month. I'm in awe. And I really look forward to seeing how long I can make this ticket last. It is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
