As morbid as it may seem, I am always aware that any breath I take may be my last. And I am acutely aware that time flies, and in the blink of an eye, it will almost be over. This is something I am more aware of after having married the man I've been enamored with for over half my life (the one who makes me fruit filled pancakes on a regular basis) and having two amazing children with him.
It's something I'm aware of more, since my life became exactly what I've always dreamed it would be and I wish for it to never end.
This awareness, in part, is what makes me determined to enjoy all the moments I have, while I am here to have them. It is this awareness that makes me laugh and smile when my daughter takes a seat in a cold, dirty puddle of water on a windy, 50 degree day. Soaking her pants and socks and shoes in the water, I know I'll have to strip her down before we get into the house.
I imagine how much she must be enjoying herself. I imagine the cold wet sensation she must be feeling as her pants and shoes absorb the brisk rain water. I wonder what she thinks as she rubs her hands along the ground, gathering pebbles from the broken blacktop and dropping them, making tiny splashes, into the puddle where she sits. And I almost want to sit there, in the puddle with her, and enjoy it all too. I'm in awe at how despite the cold and wind and wetness, she is enjoying every second of this experience too.
Following the theme of life... loving it and enjoying it... Henry and I decided that we would adorn our yard with some new plant life. Roses of Sharon, fresh herbs, garlic, mint, Romain, and even blackberries have joined us in our yard. Special thanks to Grandma Leix, Pop-o and Grandma B for donating these to us, from their own gardens.
After spending the morning with Grandma and Pop-o, we headed home for some more work for Henry and I. We live in a rather small space. It's a two bedroom ranch-style townhouse we've been trying to sell for years. Even though we're trying to sell, I do really enjoy our home and I'll miss it when we finally sell it. (If we ever do!) I think it's relaxing and has an outdoor feeling, since we decorate in natural tones.
We'd like a nice backyard of our own so we can plant a much larger garden and have a place our children can run and play in. For now, we have to sneak our garden into the land since the association frowns upon planting food. I think it should be encouraged. They're concerned it brings animals. We have animals anyway, our unit is right next to woods after all. Sometimes we get deer outside our bedroom windows!
So, while the wee ones both took naps, Henry and I had time to plant and enjoy some alone time together. I look forward to watching our new additions grow.
I've already enjoyed a few mornings, walking around outside with Zoey, sipping hot coffee, while admiring the way our new additions are thriving and teaching Zoey to love and kiss the plants as we walk by.

While Henry and Pop-o dug up some chives and oregano, Grandma played with Zoey...
And she also had a long conversation with our chatty little E.
